About stolenmotorcycleregistry.com

[bryan hance and his stolen canondale] My name is Bryan. I am a sysadmin and database programmer.

About a year ago, I created the stolen bicycle registry to help people list and track their stolen bicycles. Yes, you read that right - I said bicycles.

The thing is, even though that website clearly says BICYCLES all over the place, I got lots of people who would register their stolen motorcycles. I would email them, explain the situation, but they just kept coming. And coming. On some days they would outnumber the bicycle registrants.

While this was going on, I also released the Stolen Guitar Registry using the same technology behind my bikes site. By then I had talked to hundreds of people about what I am doing, and getting a lot of encouragement to give this tracking and search technology to the people most likely to use and benefit from it - you, the theft victim.

So here I am, releasing a third site - a free, easily accessable, well-organized stolen motorcycle registry. Something that motorcycle enthusiasts, shops, cops, and theft victims can all use with minumim hassle.

(I also run a handful of other online efforts - most are geeky technical sites like openradiodirectory.org and www.radioactivity.fm.)
